Recycle anytime, anywhere!

iBiNs

Recycle anytime, anywhere!

A network of over 800 smart iBiNs are placed around Malta and Gozo.

These revolutionary iBiNs are equipped with smart technology that enables citizens to recycle 24/7.

Using next generation Internet of Things technology, the iBiNs have the capability to monitor waste levels and feed information back to a central system which enables GreenPak’s recycling service to prioritise and customise collection routes in the localities it serves across Malta.

The bins enable GreenPak to avoid unnecessary truck movements and focus only on those bins which actually need to be emptied, improving air quality and traffic on our roads.

The iBiNs are managed in real time and data received is fed into the fleet management system, informing drivers which bins require urgent attention. Apart from helping GreenPak improve its service, thanks to the iBiNs system, GreenPak is minimising the carbon footprint and reducing costs.

For further assistance, one can contact GreenPak on (00356)21661081.

The newly designed web-app (link here : iBiNs) enables citizens to access the nearest location of these bins, through one's phone or tablet. This easy-to-use application saves both time and energy as with just one click, one may easily find the closest available bin.

On selecting the colour-coded image of the iBiN, the app informs whether the iBiN has free space to take your recyclables. If the bin is full, the app guides you to the next nearest available iBiN via a Google Map interface.

The smart iBiNs are being supported through the Business Enhance ERDF Grant Schemes Initiative, and part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund under Operational Programme I 2014-2020 ‘Fostering a competitive and sustainable economy to meet our challenges’.
